Now it time to get started. Please watch the following tutorial and let me know when you don’t understand something.
Lesson Directions and evaluation (pdf)
Tutorial>> Setup (4:32)
In this tutorial you will learn how to set up a folder for your project and how to copy the assets you will need if you are doing the “Basic Edit” project. If you are in a workshop for educators I may have already setup the project folder for you on the desktop but you should still watch the tutorial. Then I will review the setting options you will be faced with when launching Adobe Premiere and how to save the project file into that folder you set up earlier.
Tutorial>> Project Window and Importing Files (6:39)
In this tutorial you will learn how to import the assets you copied from the DVD earlier. Then I will review how to work with the project window.
Tutorial>> Premiere Interface (4:20)
In this tutorial you will learn how to change the preferences in Adobe Premiere. Make sure to pay close attention to the “Auto Save” section.
Tutorial>> Working with Panels (4:23)
Then you will learn how to configure the workspace and even save your own. When you are finished moving the panels around the way you want, save a custom workspace and then show your teacher.
Assignment: When you finish creating your own unique workspace and setting the auto save to 5 minutes, show your instructor and provide them with your evaluation form so they can give you credit.
Tutorial>> Capture Video from a DV Camera (10:44)
In this tutorial you will learn how to connect your video camera and capture footage to your computer. This part of the workshop may not be hands-on as we might not have a video camera, cable or firewire card to work with.
Tutorial>> Transfer Video Files from Memory Camera (2:14)
Tape based video cameras will not be around too much longer. Here is a tutorial on how to transfer video from a memory based camera. There are so many different models that it will cover the general idea. Refer to your video cameras manual for details on your model.
