Introduction

I like to start my students off with a fun little project that will give them a good understanding of how layers work. Building simple DVD labelss has been a constant source of real world work for my graphic students.

Template: Use Bridge to open the photshopCTE/Photos/intro folder and double click on the "ps_dvd_template.psd"

DVD Label Assignment

Read the objectives and if you feel like you already know all these things feel free to skip this assignment. Example

  • Getting Started (8:39)
    Objectives: In this lesson I will give you a quick overview of the Photoshop interface and a couple ways to open images. Then I will discuss how to manage your panels and windows. Finally, I will introduction you to working with layers.
  • Adding Text (8:17)
    Objectives: In this lesson I will show you how to arrange your layers, use the text tool and apply layer styles.
