Session 4: Where I am From
Today we are going to work on putting together our “Where I am From” poem. At this point you should have written, revised and practiced performing your poem.
Storyboard: We are going to spend a little time planning out the narration and images. I would like you to label the image you plan to use in the box and the line of your peom you plan to say on the lines below.
Adobe TV: - Learn Photoshop Elements 7: Creating a slide show (10:20)
- File Management
- Make sure you have downloaded all your images to your project folder.
- Organize Images
- Either tag the images you plan to use in your slideshow or put them into an album.
- Create slideshow
- Keep it simple during the rough cut stage (no pan and zoom and only the fade transition.)
- Record Audio
- Practice recording with both the computer and one of our portable audio recorders. Record your poem in small chunks based on your storyboard. Make sure to work on your pacing and performance. The delivery is important! Listen to each part to make sure you are happy. If you used a small portable recorder, I will be happy to show you how to get the files onto your computer and into your slide show.
- Adding Narration to a slide from and external file (1:48)
- Add Titles
- Opening title and credits (minimum)
- Share your rough cut with your partner
- Revise and refine

Digital Juice Sound FX and Music Library (9:28)
Ripping Audio Using Windows Media Player (3:20)
Building a Score with Soundbooth (5:46)
- Publish
- Share as .wmv and pdf
- Copy .wmv to the HTLC/Groups
- Share
- At 2:30 I would like to stop and share our projects with each other. If you get done early you can work on your collage or developing lessons plans for your class.
- Verbal Feedback: Start by showing the student project. Then allow the producer to share their thoughts and ask the audience questions. Follow this with allowing the audience to tell the producer the things they liked.
- Written Feedback: Just like in the verbal feedback I would suggest that you keep the peer feedback focused on the positive. See “feedback” in the handout section.

Stop Motion Topics
We will be creating a short stop motion movie on Friday that illustrates a topic in your curriculum. For example, the parts and process of a volcano would be a great topic to animate. If your group has time at the end of the day you can discuss this. If not, come to class Friday with materials to share with your group.
We will have the options of clay, pipe cleaners, legos or paper cut-outs.
