The library at Mount Si High School will again offer a free series of
nine 1-to-2 hour workshops to introduce participants to book arts
and zine publishing.  Classes are limited to 10 people.   Participants
will create their own zines, providing text/content/ illustrations, and
produce at least 10 copies to distribute to friends/family/bookshops. 

Participants must be at least 10-year-old

workshop #1   

In this workshop participants will learn about the the history, philosophy & format of zines.  
  workshop #2    In this brainstorming session participants will think of what the content of their zines might  be and begin to collect text and illustrations for publication.  Participants will also carve their own personal signature rubberstamp.  
  workshop #3    In this workshop participants will be introduced to cut-and-paste and computer-assisted publishing techniques and layout.  
  workshop #4    In this workshop participants will learn hand-papermaking techniques and actually make several sheets of paper to use as covers for their zines.  
  workshop #5    In this workshop participants will learn
3-4 simple binding techniques to use for their zines.
 
  workshop #6    In this workshop participants will learn the stencil technique for silk-screening and will produce several copies of the image they design.  
  workshop #7    In this workshop participants will begin to layout their zines.  
  workshop #8    In this workshop participants will finish making their zines and will produce 10 copies.  
  workshop #9    We'll celebrate our publications and swap zines.
